Ryan International Airlines

Ryan International Airlines is based in Rockford, Illinois. It is an American FAR 121 supplemental airline. In the beginning, Ryan flew non-scheduled and also charter passenger services for short trips and tour packagers, side by side with cargo flights for other companies. However, Ryan is not a member of IATA but is a subsidiary of the Rubloff Jet Express. The airline was born in 1972 at Wichita. It started operating on 3 March 1973. Ryan Aviation was its predecessor and was bought by Ronald Ryan in 1989. It entered into a subcontract with the Emery Worldwide Airlines in 1989 and henceforth began flying for the US Postal Service.

In the early years of the1980s the airline started passenger charter services from Atlantic City, Minneapolis, St Paul, Cleveland and Cincinnati. In 1992 Ryan also included a South Pacific operation, by which it flew fresh fish and ordinary freight to Guam, Saipan and surrounding islands. Ronald Ryan wholly owned the Ryan International till the year 2004. In 2003 and 2004 Ryan operated a number of flights on the AirTran Airways Atlanta - West Coast route.
