Santa Barbara Airlines is based in Caracas, Venezuela. Its operations include scheduled domestic and international services. It operates from its main base of Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS), Maiquetía. It also has a hub at La Chinita International Airport (MAR), Maracaibo. The airline came into existence on November 1, 1995 and started operating from March 1, 1996. Islas Airways is under its complete control.

The passengers were not very satisfied with the seating capacity of the older version of the DC-10s so they were replaced with newer models by the end of 2005. the airlines boast of cheap airfare, excellent food and good audio and video entertainment. They have large and comfortable seats along with a large number of discounts on the price of the tickets. The flight and ground staff provide a very hospitable reception and behave very well with all the passengers.
